How to use Text Repeater

  1. Type the string into "Text to repeat" (the sample is "Hello World!").
  2. Enter "Repetitions", from 1 to 10000.
  3. Pick a "Separator": New line, Space, Comma and space, Custom separator (then fill "Custom separator string") or None (no gap).
  4. Optionally fill "Prefix per item (optional)" and "Suffix per item (optional)" and tick "Add item numbering (1, 2, 3...)".
  5. Check the "Estimated output" notice, press "Repeat text", then "Download TXT" for large results.

Worked example

Text "Ha", Repetitions 3, Separator "Comma and space", Prefix "<", Suffix ">", numbering ticked. The result is "1. <Ha>, 2. <Ha>, 3. <Ha>", which is 25 characters, and the estimate notice reads about 25 characters for 3 repeats. With the separator changed to New line the same three items stack on three rows instead.

When to use this tool

  • Generating a test string long enough to hit a field's character limit.
  • Printing a numbered checklist skeleton with the same label on every row.
  • Building a divider line by repeating a dash 60 times with no separator.

Important limitations

The result box is capped at 10,000 repetitions per run to keep the page responsive. The Big file option builds up to 1,000,000 repetitions in chunks and downloads them as a TXT file instead of displaying them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum number of repetitions?

10,000 in the result box; a larger number is clamped to that value. For bigger test files, the Big file option builds up to 1,000,000 repetitions in chunks and downloads them as a TXT file without displaying them, so the page stays responsive.

In what order do numbering, prefix and suffix appear?

Each item is built as number, prefix, text, suffix, for example "2. <Ha>". Separators go only between items, so nothing follows the last one. Numbering counts from 1, and the number is followed by a period and a space before the prefix.

How accurate is the size estimate?

It is approximate. It adds a flat allowance of three characters per item, so it may read a little above or below the true length when numbering is off or the count reaches five digits.

Can I repeat a multi-line block?

Yes. Everything in the box, line breaks included, is treated as one unit and repeated with your chosen separator. A newline separator then places each copy on its own row, which suits building a list.

Why does a single space work but an empty box fail?

The check is only for an empty string, so a lone space is accepted and can be repeated to build a run of blank characters. A completely empty box shows "Enter text to repeat."

How do template tokens and target length work?

Tick "Use template tokens" to replace {n} with the item number, {n:001} with a zero-padded number, {date} with today's date and {random} with a random number from 0 to 999999. A target length repeats items until the output reaches that many characters or UTF-8 bytes, then trims it without splitting a character.
