How to use Signature Maker
- Choose "Creation Mode": "Draw Signature (Pen / Touch / Mouse)" or "Type Signature (Handwritten Cursive)".
- When drawing, sign on the canvas; "Undo" removes the last stroke and "Clear" empties it. When typing, fill "Type Full Name" and pick a "Handwriting Font Style" such as Flowing Brush Script or Formal Calligraphy.
- Select an "Ink Color" (charcoal, navy, royal blue or burgundy) and a "Pen Width (px)" from 1 to 8.
- Keep "Transparent background (essential for PDF forms)" ticked for a see-through file, or untick it for white; "Auto-crop signature to content" trims whitespace.
- Press "Download PNG" or "Download SVG Vector".
Worked example
Switch to Type mode, enter "Alexander Morgan", choose "Formal Calligraphy" and "Executive Navy Blue (#1e3a8a)". The canvas shows the name in italic 72 px lettering. "Download PNG" saves signature.png at 900 by 280 pixels with a transparent background, while "Download SVG Vector" saves a file whose text element holds the name.
When to use this tool
- Preparing a transparent PNG to drop onto a signed PDF form.
- Making a quick typed sign-off image for an email footer.
- Redrawing a signature several times using Undo until the last stroke looks natural.
Important limitations
Generates an electronic signature image for contracts and documents. This is not a cryptographic PKI digital certificate (such as x.509), does not encrypt document contents, and is not a legally certified electronic signature under ESIGN or eIDAS.
Frequently asked questions
Will a typed signature look identical on every computer?
No. Typed mode uses fonts already on your device: Brush Script MT, Lucida Handwriting, Snell Roundhand or generic cursive. A missing font falls back to the default cursive face, and an SVG opened elsewhere can differ again because text is not converted to outlines.
Does auto-crop work on typed signatures?
No. Cropping applies only to drawn strokes, with 16 pixels of padding. A typed signature exports at the full 900 by 280 canvas, so trim it later in an image editor if needed.
What does the SVG contain?
A drawn signature becomes one path through your recorded points in a 900 by 280 viewBox, with ink color and pen width, uncropped and unsmoothed. A typed one holds live text, not shapes, so it needs the same font to render alike.
Why did a single click leave no dot?
A stroke needs at least two points, so a lone tap is ignored on screen and in exports. Drag a tiny distance to make a dot, for example over an i.
Is the result a legally binding signature?
It is only an image. It adds no certificate or timestamp, and whether a pictured signature is accepted depends on the document and jurisdiction, so ask the recipient.
