How to use Image Splitter & Grid Slicer
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP under "Select Image"; a preview canvas appears with dashed cut lines and a numbered badge on every tile.
- Click a preset such as "Instagram 3×3 Grid" (9 square tiles), "Instagram 3×1" (swipe panorama), "Instagram 3×2" or "2×2 Grid"; each one also fills in Rows, Columns and the framing option.
- Adjust "Rows" and "Columns" by hand (1 to 10 each) and watch the "Live Cut Lines" heading and the "Tile size" readout update in pixels.
- Set "Pre-Crop Framing" to "Crop to Square Ratio" for non-square photos, or leave "Keep Full Image (Fit)" to slice the whole picture.
- Pick "Export Format" (PNG, JPEG or WebP) and press "Download All Tiles (.ZIP)", or "View & Download Individual Tiles" to save single pieces.
Worked example
Load a 3000 × 2000 photo and keep the default "Instagram 3×3 Grid" preset, which crops to square first. The centered square is 2000 × 2000, so "Tile size" shows 667 × 667 px, with the right column and bottom row trimmed to 666 px. The ZIP holds tile_01.png to tile_09.png, and the guide reads #9 → #8 → … → #1.
When to use this tool

- Making a puzzle-style profile grid where each tile is exactly one ninth of the picture.
Important limitations
Images are sliced along exact pixel boundaries. Slicing dimensions not evenly divisible by the slice count will distribute remainder pixels evenly across the outer edge tiles.

Frequently asked questions
In what order should the tiles be posted?
The "Instagram Posting Order Guide" lists numbers from the last tile down to #1, because a new upload lands top-left of a profile grid. Tiles are numbered row by row, left to right, and saved as tile_01, tile_02 and so on.
What if the image does not divide evenly?
Tile size is rounded, and the last column and last row take whatever pixels remain. A 2000 px side cut in three gives 667, 667 and 666 px, so edge tiles can differ from the rest by a pixel or two.
How does Crop to Square decide what to discard?
It keeps a centered square whose side equals the shorter edge of the photo. On a 3:2 landscape image that removes one third of the width, half from each side, before any cutting happens.
Are tiles resized or recompressed?
Tiles keep the source pixels, with no scaling up or down. PNG is lossless, while JPEG and WebP tiles are encoded at a fixed 0.95 quality setting, which you cannot change on this page.
What is the largest grid I can make?
Rows and Columns are each clamped to a range of 1 to 10, so the maximum is 100 tiles. Values outside that range are pulled back automatically rather than showing an error.
