How to use Remove Pages from PDF
- Choose your document; the notice line shows the file name, total sheet count and byte size.
- Type the numbers to remove (e.g. 2, 4-6, 8) as single numbers or ascending ranges separated by commas.
- Or use the quick buttons: "First", "Last", "Even (2, 4, 6...)", "Odd (1, 3, 5...)" and "Clear Input".
- Read the live line under the box, which lists the exact numbers to be removed and how many will remain.
- Press the delete button and save the cleaned file.
- Optional: use blank or text-matching detection to fill the selection box automatically, and Undo to step back. After saving, a verification line reports whether text from the removed sheets was found in the output.
Worked example
Load an 8-sheet document and type 2, 4-6, 8. The preview confirms 5 selections (2, 4, 5, 6, 8) will be removed and 3 will remain. After saving, the downloaded document contains the kept originals 1, 3 and 7 renumbered as 1 to 3 in that order.
When to use this tool
- Removing blank separator sheets from a scanned bundle.
- Dropping the cover sheet before uploading a form that must start with the first form section.
- Removing all even-numbered sheets left over from a single-sided scan of two-sided originals.
Important limitations
Deleting pages rebuilds the file from the kept pages only and checks the output for text from the deleted pages, but it does not sanitize text or redactions on the pages you keep.
Frequently asked questions
Is a descending range like 6-4 accepted?
No. A range must run from a lower to a higher number, and 6-4 gives an error asking for ascending entries such as 1,3-5. Overlaps such as 2-5, 4 are fine because each sheet is counted once.
Can I remove every sheet in the document?
No. If the selection covers the whole file, the tool stops with a message that at least one sheet must remain. Choose fewer numbers so the output document is valid.
What if the input box is empty?
The preview says everything will be kept, and pressing the button asks you to enter at least one number. Clear Input leaves it empty on purpose.
Does removing sheets shrink the file size?
Usually, but not always by the share you expect. Shared resources such as embedded fonts used elsewhere in the document remain in the file, so dropping a text-only sheet saves little.
How does the post-removal verification check work?
The verifier re-reads the saved file and searches its text layer and raw bytes for the text of the sheets you removed, then reports the result on screen. Scanned sheets without a text layer are verified by total count.
