How to use Random Password Generator
- Pick "Generation Mode": Random Strong, Memorable Words (206 Curated Words), Pronounceable Syllables or Numeric PIN; or start from "Quick Preset" such as Wi-Fi Router or Banking Portal.
- In Random Strong drag "Password Length" between 8 and 128 and set the "Min Numbers" and "Min Symbols" boxes; the checkboxes control lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols.
- Tick "Exclude Ambiguous" to drop look-alike characters, or "Banking Safe Mode" to avoid angle brackets, braces, quotes and slashes.
- For Memorable Words choose "Number of Words", "Word Separator", "Casing" and whether to append a digit; for a PIN choose "PIN Length" and the no-repeat and no-run boxes.
- Use "Re-roll" for a new value, the eye button to show or hide it, "Copy", and "Generate Bulk" (1 to 50) with the TXT or CSV downloads.
Worked example
Select Random Strong, set the length slider to 24, leave all four character boxes and Exclude Ambiguous ticked, and set Min Numbers and Min Symbols to 2. Every result has exactly 24 characters, contains at least two digits and two symbols, and never includes ambiguous characters like 0/O or 1/l. The specific string changes on each Re-roll.

Important limitations
Generated passwords use cryptographically secure pseudo-random number generation (window.crypto.getRandomValues) with rejection sampling. Entropy is calculated from the generator search space for each mode; always store master credentials in a dedicated encrypted password vault.

Frequently asked questions
How random is the output?
Values come from the browser's cryptographic random source (Web Crypto API) with rejection sampling, which avoids modulo bias. Generation runs entirely client-side without network requests, and the QR code is rendered locally in the page.
How large is the Memorable Words list?
The Memorable Words mode uses a built-in curated list of 206 distinct English words (roughly 7.69 bits of entropy per word). A 5-word phrase provides approximately 38 bits of search-space entropy, or 45 bits when appending a 2-digit number.
How is password entropy calculated?
Entropy is computed directly from each generator mode's search space: pool size raised to the password length for Random Strong, word list combinations for Memorable Words, syllable combinations for Pronounceable mode, and digit combinations for PINs. Ratings range from Weak (under 40 bits) to Very Strong (80 bits or more).
How are minimum digit and symbol constraints enforced?
The generator validates that your minimum numbers and minimum symbols total no more than the selected password length. The result is strictly constrained to the exact length set on the slider, and impossible combinations display a descriptive error.
What does the PIN option avoid?
It rejects consecutive identical digits (such as 77) and full ascending or descending runs across the whole PIN (such as 123456 or 654321) when those validation options are enabled.
