Receipt Generator
Generate authentic thermal cash register slips and formal business receipts with tax, discounts, and PDF download. Your work stays on this device whenever possible.
How to use Receipt Generator
- Pick a "Receipt Style" (80mm Thermal Cash Register Slip or Formal Business Sales Receipt), a "Currency" and optionally a "Quick Template" such as Bistro Dining.
- Edit the store fields, "Contact & Tax ID", "Receipt #", "Date & Time" (the Now button fills it), cashier and customer name.
- Under "Line Items" enter description, Qty and Price; "Add Line Item" appends a row and the ✕ button removes one while at least one remains.
- Enter "Discount (%)", "Tax Rate (%)", "Tip / Gratuity ($)", a "Payment Method" and "Amount Paid / Tendered".
- Toggle the "PAID" stamp or Signature Line, then choose "Print / Save PDF", "Download Receipt PNG" or "Reset".
Worked example
Click "Reset" to restore the default Artisan Cafe sample: 2 × 4.75 + 1 × 4.25 + 1 × 11.50 gives a subtotal of $25.25. Tax at 8.875% is $2.24, so TOTAL is $27.49. With Amount Paid 50 and Cash, the slip shows PAID (Cash) $50.00 and CHANGE DUE $22.51.
When to use this tool

- Giving a freelance client a formal sales receipt with a signature line.
- Previewing how a discount and a tip alter the printed total before handing it over.
Important limitations
Receipt generation and preview formatting execute locally in your browser. This tool produces standard proof-of-purchase slips and petty cash documentation; it is not connected to external payment gateways or fiscal tax authorities.

Frequently asked questions
In what order are the totals calculated?
Discount comes off the subtotal, tax is charged on the reduced amount, and the tip is added afterwards without tax. Change due is tendered minus total, never below zero, and an empty or zero tendered field is treated as paying the exact total.
Why can a total differ by a cent from the lines?
Amounts are calculated at full precision and only rounded to two decimals for display, so adding the displayed line totals by hand can occasionally disagree with the printed total.
Does changing the currency convert amounts?
No. It only swaps the symbol, and the tip label keeps a dollar sign regardless. Quantities below 1 are raised to 1, so bill a half unit by adjusting the price.
What is this tool appropriate for?
Recording sales you really made, such as a market stall or a small service job. It is not a certified point-of-sale record or a fiscal receipt, and it should never show goods or payments that did not happen.
How do Print and PNG differ?
PNG is drawn at 600 pixels wide. Print opens a pop-up window so you can save as PDF, which means pop-ups must be allowed for this site.
