How to use Image DPI Converter
- Drop one or more JPEG, PNG or WebP files onto "Select Image (JPEG, PNG, WebP)"; the print-size workspace opens as soon as the first file has loaded.
- Click a preset tile (72 Web / Screen, 96 Windows Std, 150 Draft Print, 200 Office Copy, 300 Print Standard or 600 Fine Art / Archival), or type any value from 1 to 2400 into "Custom DPI".
- Read the "Physical Print Size at Selected DPI" box: it lists pixel resolution, inches, centimeters and megapixels for the chosen number.
- Scan the "Paper Size Fit" table, where each format from 4 × 6 Photo to Passport 2×2 gets a badge from Pixelated to Crisp (300+ DPI).
- Press the "Convert & Download (300 DPI)" button (the number follows your choice), or "Download All as ZIP" if you loaded several files.
Worked example
Load a 3000 × 2000 px JPEG and click the 300 DPI tile. The print-size box reads 10.00″ × 6.67″ (25.4 × 16.9 cm) and 6.00 MP. In the paper table, 4 × 6 Photo is Crisp because the effective resolution is 500, while 8 × 10 Frame shows Good (200+) at 250. Downloading gives photo-300dpi.jpg with identical pixels.

Important limitations
Changing DPI metadata adjusts the physical print size in inches and centimeters; it does not resample, upscale, or generate new pixel columns and rows in the underlying file.

Frequently asked questions
Does changing DPI resample or degrade the picture?
No. For JPEG the tool rewrites the density fields in the JFIF header, and for PNG it writes a pHYs chunk. The pixel data is copied byte for byte, so the file dimensions stay identical and only the print-size hint changes.
What happens to a WebP file?
WebP cannot be patched in place. The image is redrawn on a canvas and saved as a PNG with the new density, so the result is a PNG, usually larger than the original WebP.
Why does the paper table not react when I change the DPI number?
Each badge compares your pixel dimensions with the paper size in inches, showing the picture's real effective resolution. The "Req. Pixels (300 DPI)" column is a fixed reference and never moves.
Will a 300 DPI tag make a small photo print sharper?
No. DPI only tells software how large to print the existing pixels. A 1200 px wide image tagged 300 DPI still prints 4 inches wide. If you need more pixels, enlarge it with the Image Upscaler instead.
How are batch files named?
Each output keeps the original name plus a suffix such as -300dpi, for example holiday-300dpi.jpg. Several files can be saved singly or as one archive called images-300dpi.zip.
