How to use Text Reverser

  1. Paste the text into "Text to reverse".
  2. Pick a "Reverse mode": characters (letters), word order, line order, or mirror words (each word reversed in place).
  3. Keep "Unicode grapheme safe (preserves emojis & diacritics)" ticked unless you want a raw code-point reversal.
  4. Tick "Preserve trailing punctuation placement" to keep a final period, question mark or exclamation mark at the end.
  5. Press "Reverse text", then "Download TXT" if you need a file.

Worked example

Input "Hello, World". Characters gives "dlroW ,olleH", Reverse word order gives "World Hello," and Mirror words gives ",olleH dlroW". With the input "Hello, World." and Preserve trailing punctuation ticked, characters mode returns "dlroW ,olleH." with the full stop kept at the end.

When to use this tool

  • Checking whether a phrase reads the same backwards as a palindrome.
  • Flipping a chronological list so the newest line comes first.
  • Creating mirrored-word puzzles for a classroom handout.

Important limitations

Reversing bidirectional text (such as mixed English and Arabic/Hebrew) will alter visual glyph presentation according to standard Unicode directional formatting rules.

Frequently asked questions

What separates Reverse word order from Mirror words?

Word order reverses the sequence of words on each line while every word stays readable. Mirror words keeps the sequence and flips the letters inside each word, leaving the spaces where they were.

Does word-order mode flip the order of lines too?

No. It works line by line and leaves the lines where they are. Choose "Reverse line order" to turn a list upside down. For example, a three-line list stays in the same three positions while each line has its own words turned around.

What goes wrong if grapheme safety is off?

Flags, skin-tone emoji, family emoji and letters with combining accents are stored as several code points, and a raw reversal separates them into scrambled symbols. Grapheme mode uses Intl.Segmenter and falls back to code points in older browsers.

How does the punctuation option behave?

It looks for . ! or ? at the very end of your input, removes that mark from the front of the reversed result and appends it back at the end. It matters most in characters mode.

Is this the same as Upside Down Text?

No. This tool changes only the order of characters, words or lines. It never swaps glyphs for rotated look-alikes, which is what Upside Down Text does.

What do the palindrome and round-trip checks show?

As you type, the checker ignores case, spaces and punctuation and says whether the text reads the same both ways, highlighting the first mismatched pair. The round-trip line reverses the result again and tells you whether that restores your exact input. Right-to-left scripts trigger a note listing the stored code-point order.
