How to use What Is My IP Address?
- Open the page; there is no field to fill in because the server reads your connection address itself.
- Complete the human-verification box if it appears, then press "Show my IP address".
- Read the green Connected badge, the "Your IP Address" value and the protocol label, IPv4 or IPv6.
- Press "Toggle Raw JSON Output" to reveal the extra fields: type, approximate location, provider details and any notice.
- Copy the address by selecting it, for example to paste into a firewall allow list.
Worked example
Press Show my IP address from a home connection. The card shows Connected, the public address assigned by your provider, and a protocol label. If the address contains a colon the label reads IPv6, otherwise IPv4. The raw JSON adds a type field and, when the location service answers, a location block plus an accuracy notice, whose contents depend on your network.
When to use this tool

Important limitations
IP geolocation is approximate and may identify a provider gateway rather than you. VPNs, mobile carriers, proxies, and corporate networks can place it in another city or region.
Frequently asked questions
Why might the address not match what a site shows?
The value shown is the one seen by ToolkitPoint's server. Proxies, VPNs, corporate gateways and some CDN setups can change it, and a dual-stack device may connect over IPv4 to one site and IPv6 to another.
Where is the location information?
City, region, country, time zone and provider fields only appear in the raw JSON view. The formatted card shows just the address and protocol. The location is approximate and can be wrong for mobile networks.
Does my IP get sent anywhere else?
Yes. For a public address the server passes it to a third-party geolocation service to fetch approximate location. Local or private addresses are not sent and return a note saying location is unavailable.
Is my IP address private information?
It identifies your network location roughly but not you personally. Every website you visit already receives it, but you may not want it shared with a lookup provider, so skip the tool on networks you prefer to keep separate.
Why does it show a private-looking address in testing?
On a local preview the server sees your device's local network address. It returns the note about missing location data rather than guessing, since that address is meaningless on the public internet.
